Pre-Game Plotting Post

Pre-Game Chatter Post

Hi everybody! I am so pleased and excited to welcome you all to State of Decay. This game has been a longtime labor of love for me, and I cannot wait to see what stories you all tell in the world I've curated for you.

While I will largely be running this game like the other collaborative journal games I know you all from, I'm also trying out some new things. Please anticipate a few growing pains as we try stuff, sort things out, and figure out what works. I am always looking for feedback & suggestions for improvement on how to streamline and organize things, so feel free to drop me a line if you have comments or suggestions. Thanks for bearing with me as I get my feet on the ground!

This game is currently closed to new players. Please don't hold, join our Discord, or comment on this post unless you've already been invited to join us.

Honestly, valid. Maggie is both superstitious and spiritual, so she is likely to prickle at John’s stinky emotional energy. She can smell the Grima on him and would steer clear.

I was originally thinking of having Maggie join up at the Grace Lutheran Church but I kind of like the idea of her arriving alone sometime later and being welcomed in because of her vulnerability and seeming expertise. (I feel like I read somewhere that the Lundegaard community would do this sometimes, but maybe that was a previous version of a game doc?)

In either case, I’m sure we can find a reason for John and Maggie to be relatively unfamiliar with each other (at least socially) upon game start.

If Maggie was a founding member of LL, then part of the reason why John was so beyond willing to scale buildings and rotting utility poles—other than to repair and build a community—was to put as much distance as possible between himself and THE WOMAN. 🧛‍♀️

But I do think that, through John’s various Rasputinings, he’s tried to collect information on Maggie. I leave it to you how much info there would be in the community to be hoovered up and how much of it would even be true. I also think it’s fair game for Maggie to have noticed more than just his “stinky emotional vibes” and seen actual expression changes on his face when he thought nobody was looking/noticing, changes which suggested to her he might be faking some things. Idk. I think it would be fun if they’ve been in weird distrust stalemate for a while now and the recent deaths in the community are breaking up that stalemate, one way or another.
