FRIDAY
More Red Talon convoys are seen heading in the direction of Seattle along Route 406. A group of five Red Talon operators stop in at Whitney Field Depot's bar, where one of the group gets into a drunken altercation with Arlo Rattray. Before the fight can progress too far, Red Talon Commander Thumper Neeley arrives to break the pair up and take his operators on their way.
SATURDAY
While working a skill exchange shift with the Prescott radio operators, John Hwang overhears Red Talon communications suggesting they are having their entire Danforth force fall back to Seattle to deal with a threat which they only call by its codename: "Grandmother".
SUNDAY
Mara Kaufman enlists the help of Edgar de Leon and Blythe Ferry to put up some tastefully winter holiday themed signage for the Depot up on their billboards. At the 50 mile marker, just outside of Danforth, they spot a disconcerting sight: an itinerant horde of zombies which Mara estimates to be 10,000 strong, en route to the Quad area in pursuit of Red Talon's noisy convoys and helicopters.

(frozen comment) Itinerant Horde Info
This leaves them with a few options:
Allow the horde to pass through the area.
π§ββοΈ Zombies are not smart, but hordes do tend to take the path of least resistance - in this case the freeway theyβre already on. There is good precedent to believe the horde will simply continue on its way out of the area if left alone.
π§ββοΈ With some preparation and coordination, the Quad communities could set up noise-making distractions to keep the horde on track and relocate the majority of their populations away from Route 406.
π§ββοΈ While not without risk, this is the βsafestβ option, and many survivors in the Quad area would have experience doing similar with smaller hordes.
π§ββοΈ Mara believes this horde to comprise nearly every zombie remaining in Danforth, meaning that the city is currently free of zombies and would be much safer to loot and explore.
π§ββοΈ The horde would continue en route to Seattle.
π§ββοΈ Mara and Jem are both in favor of weathering the horde.
Attempt to turn the horde back to Danforth.
π§ββοΈ While it would be difficult to sneak around the horde unnoticed, if a team of survivors could get to the tail end of the horde quickly enough, it might be possible to turn the entire thing around and reroute back towards Danforth. Because of the size of the horde, nobody is sure if this would be guaranteed to work.
π§ββοΈ It is unknown if the horde would come to rest in Danforth or continue out of the city. The area to the east and south is largely unpopulated.
π§ββοΈ This option would involve greater personal risk to the team of survivors, but may decrease the risk for the general population of the Quad area.
π§ββοΈ Roswell is in favor of turning the horde back to Danforth.
Attempt to split the horde.
π§ββοΈ By a similar token, the horde is large enough that creating multiple distractions in multiple directions may cause it to break into smaller sub-hordes which would be easier to eventually eradicate over a prolonged period of time.
π§ββοΈ This method is also unproven, and would involve much greater personal risk to anyone sent on these missions, but would decrease the risk to both survivors in the Quad area as well as those beyond it.
π§ββοΈ While this would result in large swathes of zombies staying in the area, the weather is expected to turn cold soon, which survivors know from experience will cause zombies to become semi-dormant and easier to destroy.
π§ββοΈ Dutch is in favor of splitting and destroying the horde.

Re: Discussion & Plotting
he wants to be pro splitting the horde with explosions but also knows that danforth will have some valuable shit, especially for the winter, so he's torn between splitting (ultimately safer for everyone else out there and what his heart wants to do) and allowing it to pass through (ultimately safer for everyone here and what his brain wants to do)
tl;dr tbd because he'll be influenced by how people discuss it ic.
eta 11/3: i can see arlo wanting to hunker down & calliope wanting to split it up but still tbd! mostly leaving this here for my own refq
