Hi everybody! I am so pleased and excited to welcome you all to State of Decay. This game has been a longtime labor of love for me, and I cannot wait to see what stories you all tell in the world I've curated for you.

While I will largely be running this game like the other collaborative journal games I know you all from, I'm also trying out some new things. Please anticipate a few growing pains as we try stuff, sort things out, and figure out what works. I am always looking for feedback & suggestions for improvement on how to streamline and organize things, so feel free to drop me a line if you have comments or suggestions. Thanks for bearing with me as I get my feet on the ground!

Hi! This is Tiff, late to the party and raw-dogging it without any connections!

This is Emmett Wright, who's at the Lumberyard, mostly looking after the farm animals and sometimes working as a sniper. He's a local, and basically a big, gruff rural guy who cares more than he'll ever let on. His bio is here.

Do you think John could Perceive that Emmett has Feelings and Cares? But he also sees that Emmett is not very expressive (at least in a normative way) and he's like, "Ah, I won't bother him (yet). We all cope in our own ways. :)" And then John plugs his earphones into his Discman and listens to his mixed CD of religious music, such as the Gregorian chant cover of "Lady in Red," while staring at a wall. We're so normal here at the Lumberyard it's inconceivable how the present tragedy could ever happen.

i've got john's younger sister and they also have quite a few things in common just like her bro. maybe they've worked together at some point because she brought the kids to see the animals as a pseudo-field trip but also because that's stuff worth learning about given their situation? and struck up some kind of friendship slowly over doing that a few times?

i also think it's very amusing if they don't even know a lot of their similarities (farmer families, losing their family at the same time, etc.) because neither of them talk about things or pry.

oh oh reggie is a local (providence ridge) and the same age and grew up on a small goat farm and basically they should be at the very least aware of each other. like maybe they were both in FFA or smth idk !!!

Hello fellow Lundie! Uh, Gideon is the second in command, and he's primarily an electrician who helps keep their little grid up and working. He's bossy and severe, but is absolutely loyal to the community and would do anything to keep things safe and orderly.

Gideon's kinda awkward so might struggle to connect to Emmett but he tries. He's also invested in the local cat community so might bump into him in the farm areas even when he's not fussing over the wiring.

Awkward dudes 🤝

Fortunately Emmett doesn't mind bossy because then he doesn't have to make any major calls himself (people die when he's in charge!!!)

Maybe they can bond over Emmett telling him all the juicy barn cat lore.

People die when Gideon is in charge but he's willing to accept that burden which is normal and good 🥲

Gideon's cat constantly starts stupid fights, please tattle on her, Emmett
